Privacy Policy

Our commitment to Privacy

Tiya Foundation (“TF”) is committed to respecting the privacy of its financial and in-kind donors, whether the donation is made online, by mail, or any other method. When you make a financial or in-kind donation, you provide your name and contact information. Financial donors provide standard payment information including, in many circumstances, credit card data. We protect your information in a variety of ways, as described below.

We use industry standard safeguards to protect your information. Many donors use credit cards for donations. We protect the security of credit card transactions using a number of measures such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls, and physical security. When we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other appropriate security measures.

We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ personally identifiable information with any other organization. In addition, we will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.

The Data We May Collect

Site Visitors. TF may collect information from your computer or mobile device as you navigate the MSF Website through the use of commonly used website information-gathering tools, such as cookies and web beacons (“Web Collection Information”). The Web Collection Information includes information from your web browser (such as browser type and browser language), your Internet Protocol address (“IP Address”), and the actions you take on the TF Website (such as the web pages viewed and the links clicked).

Personal Information. Tiya Foundation (“TF”) may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you make a donation online via our website or offline by phone, mail or any other method. TF may also collect your personal information if you sign up for our email list.

Cookies. TF uses cookies to make your interactions with the TF Website easy and helpful. On their own, cookies do not personally identify you; they recognize your browser. Unless you choose to identify yourself to TF, either by making a donation or signing up for our email list, you remain anonymous to TF.

Using your browser, you may disable the use of cookies, delete cookies, or individually reject cookies at any time. You may also disable JavaScript at any time. However, some features of our website may not function properly unless cookies and JavaScript are enabled, and some areas of our website may not function at all.

Web Beacons. TF, or third parties with whom we contract, may use web beacons alone or in conjunction with cookies to compile information about Customers and website visitors’ use of the TF Website and interaction with emails from TF. TF uses web beacons to operate and improve the TF Website and email communications.

IP Addresses and URLs. Like many other websites, TF uses Google Analytics, which collects information about our website visitors’ utilization and navigation of the TF Website and reports Website trends, without identifying individual visitors. This information helps us to design the TF Website to better suit our site visitors’ needs. We may also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer the TF Website, analyze trends, track number of Visitors, and gather broad demographic information that assists us in identifying visitor preferences.

TF may collect aggregated data regarding use of the TF Website, including, without limitation, number of Site Visitors, frequency and patterns of use, tag usage, feedback request trends, etc. (“Aggregated Data”). TF uses Aggregated Data as a statistical measure and not in a manner that would identify you personally.

Social Media Features. The TF Website may use social media features, such as the Facebook ‘like’ button (facebook.com), Instagram (instagram.com), and Twitter (twitter.com) (“Social Media Features”). These features may collect your IP address and which page you are visiting on the TF Website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly.

How we use information

TF may use personal or aggregate information to:

  • Learn about our visitors’ preferences and interests, so we can improve your experience with TF’s website and donor communications including offering surveys to obtain your opinions and understand your priorities.
  • Stay in contact with our donors. This may include responding to questions, sending thank you letters/donation receipts, relaying information about TF projects and events, or marketing communications which we think may be of interest to you by physical mail or email.
  • To acknowledge donors on our website, social media channels, or in printed materials.
  • To share with contracted service providers, such as payment processors, to enable them to provide services on our behalf.

MSF does not share, sell rent, or trade any Personal Information with third parties for promotional purposes. TF retains the information we receive for as long as needed to provide the services and to comply with our legal obligations or to promote our mission.

Security of information

In order to protect the information that we receive from you through our website, we have implemented various security measures, including the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to protect your information from unauthorized access. We protect the security of credit card transactions using a number of measures such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls, and physical security. These measures make it extremely difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us. When we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other appropriate security measures.

Children under 13 years of age

We hope that children and parents will visit our websites together, so they can jointly learn about the TF and opportunities to get involved. TF will not knowingly solicit any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Children under 13 are not authorized to donate, sign up for an event, or otherwise provide any personally identifiable information without consent from a parent or legal guardian.

Third party links

TF website contains links to other websites that are outside of our domain. MSF is not responsible for the privacy policies or content of other websites.

Changes to our privacy policy

TF may update or change our privacy policies from time to time. By using TF’s website you are agreeing to the terms of our most recent privacy policy. It is the obligation of users visiting our website to learn of changes to the Privacy Policy since their last visit.
